Dia de los muertos, Halloween, Noc Vestica

Ever since I watched Disneys Coco movie I wanted to make something inspired by it, and what better opportunity than a Halloween! Some of you that follow my Instagram account may remember one quilt I did almost 2 years ago for a baby David ( also known as baby Wayne). My close friend ordered a Batman quilt for her friend and while I was sewing it she told me to embroider sugar skulls on the back. She told me that the whole family is obsessed with Batman and sugar skulls and since it was a little hard to put all together on one side of the quilt we decided to make the front and back side different.
A short time after she delivered quilt Davids mommy wrote to me and little by little we became each other super fans and we finally met last summer and still have a great conection!
Baby David is born in October and for his birthday she wanted something special. I hurd her saing :”I can’t call him baby any more hi is a boy now”. So I suggested to make a cool Dia de los muertos/ Coco Disney inspired jacket for a little man. That way we also paid tribute to his Peruvian origins and jacket matched perfectly his father’s tattoo (until he grows big enough to have one too). So since the idea was aproved I jump on to work!

DAY 1 and most anxious day. First, I get excited when I start a project and then, I start to worry it want turn out the way I plan….and usually, it never does and mostly it looks better then I taught! Luckily most of you trust me and don’t disturb me while I work which means so much to me. I mean who can work well under pressure? (Aldo we all lied on our job interview hihhi). This mom just told me: “We like military green, red, blue and I trust it’s going to be perfect!” So I set down, put on Disney Coco movie and started to work!

DAY 2! Embroidering last details! I got surprised how fast I finished it (and let’s ignore the fact I went to bed at 3am and woke up at 9 am so I can continue working). I just couldn’t put it down. I don’t know about you but when I do all this, I can just work until I pass out. I can go an entire day without food and water until I don’t see the end, and then I start to be tired hungry and etc… I know it’s still not clear what this will look like in the end but soon enough you will see all.

DAY3! Here are first photos to see until I don’t get more from David’s mamma most commonly know as @mitriceva_angy on Instagram

I forgot to mention that I used Zara Kids denim jacket since I still can’t sew jacket and Zara always have a perfect basic wardrobe that can easily be transformed into something unique.

Before I shipped it I was playing around whit it. Took some photos. I would love to know what you think. Keep in mind I’m not a photographer, just a proud crafter

Just a day after I got more photos! Couldn’t be happier! Of course mommy made the first one and then she left professionals do they work in @pescanisat studio.

Baby David was in a mood for shooting and I’m in love in each one of these photos! Not only that I got a great photo of my little model I got a family portrait! Seriously how cute are they?

With these 3 photos, I’m finishing my first blog! Happy Halloween everybody, have fun, I sure had a lot of fun. I also know that it may sound silly that embroidery could be fun but if you don’t believe me yet, try it and let me know 😉
